On March 27, 2008, I came across a Wikipedia article on Extrasolar planets.  One of the entries was on PSR1620-20b.   This world sits all alone in the unforgiving center of a globular cluster 7200 light-years away.  How desolate a place it must be, ancient and devoid of life (so far as we know) it stands out in my mind of the evidence that the Universe is a vast and uncaring place.  A place devoid of any meaning that we ourselves do not give it.

The Universe is hostile beyond imagining, and we stand upon the surface of the one planet known to support life.  Leave this fragile ecosystem of ours unprotected and you die, quickly and painfully.  There is meaning in this fact.  This blog will explore that, and other issues that piss me off.
